Every week we are featuring five things to do this summer in London. In addition to our fab list of camps and classes, these are our five spontaneous options for you to do with the kids. Staying in the city is great when there’s so much to do…
1. Go to the Ultimate Kids’ Festival
Take the wee ones to LolliBop, the big bash for little people, on 15, 16 and 17 August at Hatfield House in Hertfordshire—just 22 minutes by train from Kings Cross.
2. Spot the Bats in Hyde Park
Head to the family evening for Bats, Moths, Fire and Food on 21 August in Hyde Park. See if you can identify the common pipistrelles, keep an ear out for owls, then settle round the fire for a snack to see which moths will be drawn to the flames.
3. Walk on the Beach . . . Along the Thames
Go for a stroll along the beach of the Southbank, and look out for the sandy neighbourhood: miniature libraries, town halls, hospitals—all inlaid with materials collected from the river. And look up to see the houses in the trees, lit up at night.
4. Mini-fest in Barnes
Mini-Fest brings art to everyone in the borough and is a fun and free day out for all, whether you are eight or eighty. Head over to Barnes this Wednesday 13th August for a fun afternoon filled with activities!
5. Make a mask at Fulham Palace
Make a mask inspired by Fulham Palace gardens. Suitable for 5-12 years. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Meet at the Bishop’s Tree in the garden at 2pm. On this Wednesday.
