Summer in London: Performing Arts Camps and Courses

YourSpaceDrama

by Anna Scott

We’ve brought you arts and crafts, sport, and mixed-activity summer camps; today we bring you ones for your little drama queen or king. Performing arts are always a popular choice in term time as well as holidays, and there’s a wealth of options in and around west London:

Stagecoach, various locations, probably one near you

One of the country’s largest performing arts schools, many courses take place in west London over the summer for a wide range of ages. Different locations have different offerings—such as Matilda Summer School and Frozen Week—so check the website to see what’s on in your ’hood.

Your Space Holiday Drama Course, Ealing

Running from the 11th to the 15th of August, the course breaks into groups that cover ages 3 to 5, 6 to 11 and 12 to 18. The theme for the older sets will be summer holidays, while the youngest ones will explore magical journeys.

Theatre Tribe Academy, Ealing

An interesting proposition, this one—over five days, kids aged 7 to 15 can take part in a musical called “Smooth Criminal”, inspired by the songs of Michael Jackson.

TheatreTribe

Pineapple Performing Arts School, Covent Garden

The well-known school offers two intensive courses this summer, each lasting five days, in groups for ages 8 to 10, 11 to 13 and 14 to 16. Musical Theatre students take part in a demonstration held at Pineapple Dance Studios plus a visit to see a West End Show. Street Dance students perform all the routines they have been working on in a Street Dance Spectacular Showcase at the end of the week at the Shaw Theatre, in central London.

Richmond Theatre Summer School, Richmond

Running from the 11th to the 15th of August from 9:30 to 4:30, this promises to be a fun-packed week of acting, singing and dancing. Kids aged 8 to 16 can take part, and will put on a full-length show on the Richmond Theatre stage on the last day.

Drama Queens, Kensal Rise

At these drama workshops, running from Monday 18th August to Friday 22nd August, children get to play all their favourite drama games, act all the fun parts and sing all their favourite songs.
