The MotherHood had the chance to get exclusive access to new childrenswear brand Newbie on the day of its UK launch. We held an event at Newbie’s pop-up store on Sydney Street, Chelsea, where we met the Newbie team, to discover their gorgeous autumn and winter collections and get creative, making our own bespoke printed tote bags.
Newbie is all about timeless, sustainable and affordable clothes that are built to last, which couldn’t be more perfect for little ones who love to play, learn and explore.
This season the collection is inspired by woodland and forest creatures, as well as English country gardens, so there’s an abundance of delightful prints to choose from with autumnal colour palettes—ideal for the current change in seasons, which makes us all crave muted tones, comfy knitwear and cosy hats.
To celebrate these divine prints—all hand-illustrated by the design team in Sweden—we got together to do some block printing of the season’s hero prints on tote bags with Newbie’s designer, Sofia Kulle. She told us more about what inspires the collection over ‘Fika’, the Swedish tradition of coffee and warm cinnamon buns.
While the Sydney Street pop-up is open (20th October to 2nd November) there is an amazing programme of complimentary events taking place, including Fika hosted in-store and the chance to personalise your purchases with embroidery. For the full programme of events, check out www.newbiestore.com.
The Newbie pop-up is located at 121 Sydney Street, Chelsea, SW3 3UD, and will be open until 2nd November.
