Craft Beer Tasting at Brook Green Market and Kitchen
Do you know your ale from your lager? Is your idea of beer-food pairings limited to pizza and a pint? Whether you’re a hophead or a novice, you can head down to Brook Green this weekend and get educated in the local craft beer scene. Beginning tomorrow and continuing for the next four Saturdays, Brook Green Market and Kitchen hosts a series of free guided beer tastings, as well as food and beer pairings from street-food traders Social Meat Club and Butcher and Brine, who will create dishes to pair with beers from a visiting brewery.
Held at Addison Primary School on Bolingbroke Road, the tastings are an opportunity to learn all about craft beer from some industry specialists through talks about the art of brewing as well as a chance to meet the brewer. Here’s the lineup: Portobello Brewing Company on the 11th of July, Weird Beard Brew Company on the 18th, BrewDog on the 25th, and Moncada Brewery on the 1st of August. The visiting brewers will bring their expertise, their ingredients (malt, yeast, hops, and the like), their history and, of course, their fantastic beers for sampling. Not a bad way to spend a summer Saturday.
This doesn’t sound kid-friendly, you protest? Well, clearly the beer event is suitable only for over 18s, but there are 30 other food stalls, with offerings including gelato and cupcakes, and a play area on the school grounds that kids can clamber on. Plus the playgrounds of Brook Green and Shepherds Bush Green are just a short saunter away.
Brook Green Market and Kitchen—which also host weekly cooking masterclasses—is located at Bolingbroke Road, W14 0DT, and open from 10 to 3pm. Visit their website for more on the craft beer fest and the Saturday market.
