On your marks, GetSetGo!

There’s a new club in town. Forget dark and dank church halls or running from activity to activity, GetSetGo! is a brand new family lifestyle club opening in Putney, South West London in January 2021 and is the brainchild of co-founders Claire Harrison (founder of swim school Swimming Rocks) and Alina Cooper. We caught up with them to find out more about a club the whole family can enjoy.

What inspired you to start GetSetGo!?

As parents but also seasoned leisure pros we saw a huge gap in the market when it came to children’s activities and we decided we wanted to do something about it! We started asking ourselves the questions every mum, dad and grandparent asks: Why are we paying so much money for our children’s activities, yet sat on dirty church, village halls and pub floors? Why are we having to juggle our schedules, dashing from one place to another waiting for our children’s classes to finish? All whilst sacrificing some well deserved me time. We wanted to change all of this. Our club has everything you need for quality family time and relaxing me-time.

If you feel energetic, you can dig into dozens of exercise classes for kids and grown-ups across the 2 studios. You can dive into swimming lessons in our beautifully designed swimming pool. We also have interactive play and learning areas, a dance and martial arts academy, plus baby and toddler groups.”

There’s a social cafe and lounge area for tasty brunches, lunches, snacks and dinners (with great coffee or glass of wine for the grown ups). Plus a social events calendar offering everything from expert panel talks, workshops, meet ups and product launches.

We also have a quiet area to concentrate in our dedicated co-working space allowing you to balance business and family.

What makes GetSetGo! unique?

Ultimately we wanted to create a luxury family club but without the membership fees! You only book the clubs and classes that you want to attend and you can use the social spaces whenever you want to hang out as a family.

We have both worked in the leisure industry for over 20 years, but we are also working parents, so we understand the needs of a busy family.

We also wanted to make it super easy for families to book the children on to different classes and at the same time you can kick back and grab some precious ‘me time’ whilst you wait. No more constantly driving different children between different venues and for different classes every day!

We will also be offering magical birthday parties, fantastic holiday club programmes and a GetSet Giveback programme for schools.

What classes will you offer?

We’ve got classes to suit all ages, so for tots (0-2) and minis (3-5) we’ll have our signature go-wild gym sessions, sensory and music classes, as well as mini ballet, swimming lessons and a variety of parent and baby classes.

For juniors (6-10) we have swimming lessons, ballet academy (following the Royal Academy of Dance syllabus), as well as street dance, karate, yoga and junior fit classes.

Teens (11-16) can choose from swimming lessons, RAD ballet academy, street dance and karate but they’ll also have options like yoga, boxing, HIIT, strength and bodyweight exercise training.

And grown-ups (16+) have the choice of a whole range of classes from boxing, yoga, pilates, HIIT, Strength and Pilates. We also have an amazing programme called Gravity which utilises the 4D PRO Bungee. This classic challenges your core control with dynamic gravity defying motion reducing stress on your joints while increasing total muscle work.

If that’s not enough we have created a class for families to be able to train together too!

How is GetSetGo! different from other ‘family’ gyms?

Most ‘family’ gyms are still designed for grown-ups with the children being an afterthought. Everything at GetSetGo! Has been creatively designed for little ones AND for grown ups. We want to encourage independent learning, inspired through play and champion active lifestyles.

And whilst our main emphasis is on active programmes, we have the feel of a luxury members club with dedicated co-working, lounge areas, play spaces and social events programme also part of what’s on offer.

How are you handling opening up during a pandemic and what measures are you putting in place?

There is definitely a sense that this club is very much needed for local families. We have been totally blown away with the interest so far. We have been inundated with booking requests and we sold out all spaces for our club open weekend tours in just 40 minutes!

However, we are also in a unique position that we have been able to build and install the very best and most up to date safety equipment, air purification units and a UV filtration system in the swimming pool. And having a brand new facility means we can start as we mean to go on and are not having to retrospectively work around what’s already in place.

Classes will of course be reduced to allow for social distancing, co-work spaces will have individual pods created and we will ensure that all guidance measures are implemented to ensure we provide a safe space to enjoy your family time and activity classes.
