Top Portrait Photographers 2012
Over the last couple months we’ve been asking you to nominate your favourite portrait photographer. With the help of the folks at Time for Mums, we’ve waded through all the family portraits and cute newborn pictures to narrow it down. It was a tough job— but someone had to do it! Choosing the right person to photograph your family can be a tough decision, hopefully we can help you find the right match.
This year we’re shaking things up and asking you—our fabulous readers to vote for your favourite photographer. Over the next couple of weeks we’ll be showcasing the nominees and finally opening up the polls for you to vote. You can check out last weeks nominees here.
The next two nominees are: Catherine Orr Deas and Antonina Mamzenko.
CATHERINE ORR DEAS
Catherine has always loved photography, but became inspired by child and family photography after discovering the joy of capturing photographic moments in her own child’s life. Her work is dramatic with the use of contrast to really make the subject she is photographing stand out.
She has a purpose built studio combining natural and flash light and aims to provide a relaxed space in which to create varied, beautiful and affordable portraits that capture both the personality of the child and the relationship between child and parent/s. She provides a variety of colourful baby and child props and backgrounds and uses digital enhancement to create the best possible images in format suitable for both printing and email purposes.

ANTONINA MAMZENKO
For Antonina photography has always been a way to record the beauty of the everyday life. “Things I see, touch, smell. The little details, the toothless smiles, the yogurt face. The grumpy moods, the quiet moments, the loud ones.” She has been working as a professional family photographer for nearly three years, working on location with natural light.
“I feel extremely privileged to be asked to share some of the most important days in my client’s lives, from their wedding day to the arrival of their firstborn, to photographing their growing families.”
Her approach is to photograph her clients and their families as they really are, so that in years to come they can look back at those precious memories and smile, remembering that exact moment in their lives.
