WLM’s Top Portrait Photographer 2012 Nominess: Olivia Shaw and Katia Muscara

Top Portrait Photographers 2012

Over the last couple months we’ve been asking you to nominate your favourite portrait photographer.  With the help of the folks at Time for Mums, we’ve waded through all the family portraits and cute newborn pictures to narrow it down.  It was a tough job— but someone had to do it!  Choosing the right person to photograph your family can be a tough decision, hopefully we can help you find the right match.

This year we’re shaking things up and asking you—our fabulous readers to vote for your favourite photographer.  Over the next couple of weeks we’ll be showcasing the nominees and finally opening up the polls for you to vote.  You can check out last weeks nominees here.

The next two photographers to be featured are Katia Muscara and Olivia Shaw.

OLIVIA SHAW

Olivia Shaw ventured into the world of freelance photography after graduating from Portsmouth University in 2006. She’s always been passionate about shooting portraits, a love of which really begun whilst travelling during university holidays and being captivated by the wonderful people and faces she met along the way. “I love being able to show another side to someone in a photo and a venerability that might not be so easily seen in reality”.

When photographing babies and children she uses natural light where possible, as it’s less intrusive and distracting. The more comfortable and natural they are with her, and in front of the camera, the better the photographs. She always shoots in the family’s home or outdoor location of their choice, so the children are at ease and in familiar surroundings.

“My main aim when shooting any portrait, wedding couple, baby or a celebrity, is to show their true personality in the photo. I love the time I spend with the ‘little ones’; working with them to capture their true character, whilst making sure they find the shoot fun and engaging. Every single shoot is different and represents the individuality of each child.”
