WHAT TO DO THIS SUMMER IN LONDON
Summer has finally arrived and many of us are thinking about summer holiday activities. Maybe you’ve been going with the flow in the past but now the kids are getting to an age where summer break boredom starts to set in. Maybe they want to try something new or just need a change from the usual school holiday clubs. Of course, living in west London we’re lucky to be spoilt for choice when it comes to school holiday courses and workshops, in terms of length, price and the types of activities on offer.
Here we begin our series on summer camps and courses for kids. Today’s focus: Arts and Crafts. Let their creative side shine through this summer with classes covering everything from circus skills to animation:
Dream Catcher Media Film Making Summer Camp, Richmond
Available to kids aged 8 to 18, this camp teaches the fundamental skills required for them to produce their own short film. The five-day courses run throughout July and August.
Kite Studios, Shepherds Bush
Summer classes start on 21st July and run until 30th August. Perfect for children starting at aged 4. They also have adult classes if you want to get creative this summer. Watch our recent feature here.
Fun Fashionistas, Ealing
Get your future designer ready for a Fun Fashionistas boot camp course. Check their website for further details.
Design Camp, Shepherds Bush
This one is happening soon: On from 21 to 25 July at St Stephens Primary School, Design Camp is taught by a cabinetmaker and a metal worker/jeweller for kids in years 5 and 6. The children will learn to work with wood and design and make their own pewter castings. For more information or to book, email [email protected] or call Charlotte on 07960 932668.
Make a Film, Ladbroke Grove
Learn about storytelling on film, directing, using a camera and sound recording. Classes are open to children aged 12 to 19 and runs from 28 July to 14 August.
Urban Ambush Youth Arts Festival, Brentford
A very exciting opportunity for children aged 8 to 18 to get a taster of a range of creative skills. Running 28th July through 22nd August at the Waterman’s Arts Centre, these one-day courses cover street art, film animation, circus skills and stand-up comedy.
The Kids’ Cookery School, Acton
The long-running establishment is offering workshops and classes for various ages running in July and August.
