Sasti is a fabulous children’s clothes store located in Portobello market owned by Rosie Carpenter who hand makes the most beautiful children’s clothes.
I first stumbled upon this wonderful shop when I was pregnant with my son Connor (now 15 months). As soon as you enter Sasti, Rosie’s personality bounces off the walls—not because she is a loud person but because her designs are vibrant, exciting and unique. Before opening the store Rosie was actually a nanny who decided to take part time classes at the London College of Fashion in pattern cutting and sewing and then studied to be a milliner. With the help of the Prince’s Trust, she launched Sasti in 1995.
The range starts from 0-8 years and can make to order if you have any special requirements. This talented designer dotes on her niece and nephew who inspire many of her creations. Some of the most popular Sasti designs include owls, foxes and badgers as she likes to champion persecuted animals.
If you’re looking for dull, plain clothes this is absolutely not the brand for you, but if you want your little lovelies to look different from everyone else then Sasti is the perfect label! Within this Aladdin’s cave you will also find knitted dolls, hats and mini boots all handmade by Rosie.
Tops and dresses start from £16, coats from £45 and knitted toys from only £1. Rosie’s designs can be found online or pop into her shop which located within Portobello Green Arcade. My favourite Sasti piece has to be the vibrant green rabbit jacket. I love all the detail, trimmings and of course the cute rabbit silhouette.
