Which area do you live in, and what do you love about it?

I live in Kensal Rise which I absolutely LOVE. We moved here about six years ago from a long stint on the West Coast, and I swear, if we hadn’t found this area I may well have moved back to the States.

Kensal Rise is just the perfect mix of urban and suburban for me.

I am a real Londoner in my soul so I couldn’t live anywhere too quiet. Here in Kensal I am surrounded by parks but in a really urban environment. I’m a huge fan!

There is also the most wonderful sense of community to the area. I feel like everybody really looks out for each other and there is always someone to bump into and grab a coffee with when I’m out doing errands. My favourite coffee spot is Cable Co coffee.

Where do you like to hang out with your kids?

The location of Kensal Rise means that we are so close to everything. We love to stroll down to Portobello Market where we like to look at the crystals and taste all the food from the sellers there. We also love to go to our favourite local book shop Queen’s Park Books to choose some new books then stop for an ice cream.

What are your favourite local family-friendly eateries?

We love Tonkotsu for ramen noodles on a weekend.

The kids and I love ice cream from 3bis on Portobello Road.

My son is obsessed with any FIVE GUYS burger.

My eldest and I often walk to Planet Organic for a smoothie, or we love Acai Carioca for a smoothie bowl on a weekend.

What are your favourite local independent shops?

My favourite is Supra on Chamberlayn Road for their awesome, hand-picked selection of fashion. I never leave empty handed.

I also love Verandah on Chamberlayn Road because it is great for gifts, and they have an awesome second had sample rail which is always fun. They also always have great sunglasses that don’t cost the earth.

What local activities do you and your family take part in?

Whenever there is a local fair, like Queen’s Park Day, we will always go and hang out.

The Queen’s Park Farmers’ Market on a Sunday on Salisbury Road is a weekly must.

Where’s your favourite place to escape in your area for a little solo time?

A walk down to Queen’s Park is always a pleasure. I make sure I visit my trainers Ellis Stockwell every week for some personal ass kicking. I don’t get much solo time to be honest – I’m going to have to rectify that.

What’s the best hidden gem in your area?

Kensal Nails for their Gold Gels.
