Super Science Saturdays at Imperial College with Richer Education
Launching on 7 February, Science Saturday School is a unique, exciting and enriching programme tailored to children aged 5 to 11. Covering all three sciences—biology, chemistry and physics—each session is centred on a theme or topic, corresponds with the key stage 2 school curriculum and contains the right mix of fun and learning. Science Saturday School takes place in South Kensington at Imperial College London, known throughout the world as a centre of science excellence.
Children will be involved in practical activities such as building their own rocket, producing clean water and many more fun projects. All sessions are based around a practical experiment whereby students investigate a question, discuss their results, make a conclusion and evaluate. Sessions are mixed-mode and include group tasks, independent thinking, discussions and writing skills, with an emphasis on exciting, hands-on activities. Regular feedback is provided to inform parents/carers of their children’s progress.
Taking place from 9:30am to 11:30am each Saturday (including during half term), sessions are delivered by primary and secondary specialists, PhD students, science communicators and university lecturers. A range of topics and modules are offered, any of which can be tailored to suit a child’s learning needs.
Science Saturday School is a programme of Richer Education, who work to inspire children to learn outside the box and expand their world view by developing problem-solving skills and teamwork from an early age. Richer Education aim to promote a love of science through enriching practical activities.
