I started going to comedy clubs about 10 years ago…it became something that I would even do when I was traveling to different cities. There is something about the rawness of it that got me hooked. Some nights were great, others not so great, but I still give kudos to anyone to gets up on stage and tries to make people laugh. The Sunday Comedy Night at the Lyric in Hammersmith kicks off January 30th with Roisin Conaty, Simon Evans, Nick Helm, Arthur Smith and is guest hosted by Stephen Grant.
About the comedians:
Roisin Conaty has received numerous awards including Best Newcomer in 2010 Foster’s Edinburgh Comedy Awards. Roisin has written and performed on BBC Radio 1’s flagship comedy show The Milk Run and recently featured in Transmission Impossible, a comedy lab for Channel 4. She has had a tremendous year by earning a special commendation at the Hackney Empire New Act of the Year and winning the Laughing Horse Big Big Big New Act competition.
Stand-up and comedy writer Simon Evans current credits include supporting Lee Mack on his most recent tour Going Out and appearing on Michael McIntyre’s BBC 1 Comedy Roadshow.
Having made his debut three years ago, Nick Helm caught the attention of audiences and critics alike with his first Edinburgh Fringe show and by reaching the semi-final of So You Think You’re Funny. Finalist of Laughing Horse New Act Competition 2009, Nick also stars in CBBC’s Big Babies.
Comedian, writer and broadcaster Arthur Smith is a well known face in some of the UK’s greatest comedy clubs including The Comedy Store, Jongleurs and has performed in a variety of West End theatres.
