What Mother Made

What Mother Made is a London based, handmade children’s wear label that blends classic traditional shapes with cool, locally sourced fabrics and contrast prints. Crafted for babies and toddlers aged 0 – 8 years old, the team behind What Mother Made, carefully cuts, sews and pieces together each item from a studio in Dalston. The collections are vintage inspired and playfully traditional with a contemporary edge. Sustainable style is paramount here and they have a zero wastage policy.

Bob & Blossom

Creative mum Kirsten launched Bob & Blossom in 2000 after her son was born. It started with a range of baby t-shirts she could gift to her friends, who had also had new babies. She approached her favourite stores to see if they would stock them and they were a hit. Since then B&B has grown to include a super soft cotton babywear range, sweatshirts galore, and the popular birthday t-shirt collection and a variety of tutus. Check out their little shop in East London’s Columbia Road, home to the famous Sunday flower market.

WORD

Anah Parker-Dean, a former buyer at ASOS, started WORD while on maternity leave after the birth of her first child in 2016. She calls it a ‘family lifestyle destination’ in the heart of Walthamstow Village. “Being a first time mum discovering and buying small brands for my new babe became my new obsession, a new world of buying to discover and it felt exciting. So many amazing brands out there and most of them started by mums themselves who had dreams of a different future for their own little ones.”

She tested the waters by hosting a market, which was a success, so she quit her job and opened a pop-up shop which led to the permanent location. She stocks beautiful baby and children’s clothing along with accessories and toys. In non-Covid times you can even take a yoga class here!

Niddle Noodle

Perhaps most recognisable for the bright twisty slide in store, this amazing children’s boutique offers unique and exclusive fashion, accessories, books, toys and home ware for children and their parents. Owners Eilidh (the Scot) & Katrine (the Dane) aim to bring you new labels, many of which will be exclusive to the shop.

The owners are both mothers with young daughters and a passion for children’s design who live in Crouch End. They started the shop as they couldn’t find original pieces they were seeking for their kids.
