Local Spotlight: Nomad Books, Fulham

I need a good latte at least once a day to keep me going and the ideal is a place where I can have my coffee whilst the kids are being entertained.  This is probably why you can frequently find me at Nomad Books just on Fulham Road.

Nomad is an independent bookshop filled with character, charm and friendly staff—not to mention an enormous selection of books (my personal favorites are the travel and cookery books).  What they don’t have they will happily order in for you, or offer their expert advice.  There is a sweet little café in the shop where you can sit down, relax and enjoy a hot beverage with a good book.

The main attraction for me is the children’s section: literally half of the shop is given over to books for kids of all ages, with tables filled with recommended titles.  The children’s section has lots of comfy sofas and nooks for the little ones to get cozy in.  Whenever I’m about to take the kids on a plane my first stop is always Nomad to load up on sticker books and children’s travel guides.

Another great thing about Nomad is they host tons of events and book clubs, making it a great way to interact with the community.  The little ones are not forgotten either, with weekly storytimes for 2- to 5-year-olds and monthly story times for 5- to 8-year-olds.  Be sure to check out their website or pop into the shop for more details.

If you find yourself in Fulham with the kids, wander on down to Nomad Books. A good coffee, a good read and a great place to nurture your children’s love of reading—what more could you want?
