Yoga For Your Period…

Is your monthly visit from Aunt Flo starting to wear you down?  Getting more painful, more frazzled and generally feeling on edge?  The practice of Yoga during ‘that time of the month’ can actually help with the symptoms and general malaise that often accompanies it.

This weekend The Special Yoga Centre are offering a Yoga for Women seminar on how yoga can benefit women during our monthly cycle.  Through the practice of asanas (yoga postures), pranayama (breathing techniques) and meditation all of which are designed to calm the mind, balance hormones and relieve pain and fatigue.

Practising certain yoga poses and avoiding others (ie. headstands) during the time of menstruation can actually nourish the long-term health of the female reproductive organs.  The session includes time for participants to share their individual experiences (emotional and physical) relating to pre-menstruation and peri-menopause.  This workshop is suitable for all levels of yoga experience.

All participants will receive a hand-out for a Yoga during Menstruation home practice.

So channel your inner Darth Vader and get that Ujjayi breathing going this weekend-period.
