We love our London mums! Each month we’ll feature a local mum from an area in London who will share her favourite places in her community. We start the series off with Nisha Nayak — a full-time mum to two gorgeous kids, a four-and-a-half-year-old daughter and a two-year-old son. She used to work as a sonographer before her daughter arrived but now stays at home with them. Find out what she loves about her hood:
Where do you live and what do you love about it?
We live in Chiswick and absolutely love it. It is full of young families and there are so many good activities for little kids. It is a safe little community full of parks and playgrounds. We love the child-friendly cafés and restaurants on the high road.
What’s your favourite neighbourhood place to hang out as a family?
We love Chiswick House—such beautiful gardens and a lovely playground for the kids. They also love the cafe there. Always a nice place to hang out as a family or with other families and their kids.
What’s your favourite place to escape for me-time?
I love having a facial or massage at Himalaya Spa, very friendly and good staff and lovely pampering treatments. I also escape for a cuppa to Costa Coffee on the high road—nothing like a peaceful, kid-free coffee and a good book.
What are some local activities you take part in?
Both kids do swimming lessons at Laura Sevenus swimming school near Stamford Brook Station. Lovely and clean facility with very good teachers who are so good with kids.
We are members at Maggie and Rose family club, which is a godsend for families with small children. The kids enjoy the classes there and love the play area and rooftop garden.
Chiswick Theatre Arts is also great for ballet classes and holiday workshops. The kids adore the teachers, who make everything so much fun for them.
What are the hidden gems of your neighbourhood?
Christ Church on Turnham Green is truly a hidden gem. We recently found out about the lovely stay and play sessions they hold almost daily. These are very reasonably priced and have a huge variety of toys, activities and even a bouncy castle for the kids. Highly recommend it!
