Local Spotlight: Best Kids Party

Razia Smith, an Acton based mum of two girls has just made planning a child’s birthday party much easier.  Her company Best Kids Party supplies decorations, plates, cups, party bags and invitations – all the essentials for that special day.  All you need to worry about is the cake and presents!  Her range of themes are impressive – from Dr. Who all the way to Rapunzel.  Best of all, if you live in the W3 or W5 post code, she delivers free to your door.  Also, if you sign up to her newsletter you will receive 10% off your order.

WLM recently met up with Razia:

What inspired you to start Best Kids Party?
When planning my two young daughter’s birthday parties, I found it hard to find really nice party tableware and decorations in the supermarkets and shops, especially in the themes I wanted. If they did have a particular theme I liked then they didn’t have the matching cups or napkins in stock, so I’d then have to trawl around the shops again looking for bits and pieces. It was also stressful  going to the shops with the girls and them wanting to have everything there and then.

I found many online party websites visually confusing and not particularly easy to navigate and shop.

This is really what led me to launch Best Kids Party, as I wanted to provide a one-stop shop that only specialises in children’s party products, which is very easy to navigate, providing a stress-free shopping experience for parents and carers.

Previously having graduated in Art and Design and becoming a retail Buyer, setting up my own business in a field I can relate to and love, was the perfect way to utilise my skills and experience.

To give my shop a point of difference and a more personal touch in this competitive market, I have started to design and create my own unique range of fun party bags and gifts. I adore the creative side and producing something that brings a smile on children’s faces is what it’s all about!

What is your favourite place in West London?
When the weather isn’t great, we often go to Westfield Shopping Centre, my girls love the Disney shop, I love shopping and most of all deciding where to eat, so many restaurants to choose from!

In good weather we love going to Kew Gardens and having a picnic.

What is your favourite child friendly place in West London?
We spend our time equally between Ealing and Chiswick, but our favourite is Nandos in Ealing Common. The staff have got to know us very well! Most of the restaurants we’ve been to in West London have been very accommodating with the kids.

How do you spend your downtime?
I don’t actually have much time to rest in between the business and being a full time mum, but I do try and make a point of not working much at the weekends so that we can go out as a family.

Occasionally I give myself a night off and go out in the evening with friends for dinner or to the movies. I love going out to eat so need to start going to exercise classes again too!

How do you juggle running your own business and being a mum?
My eldest daughter is in full time school and my youngest is currently at morning nursery, so this is when I spend time on the business and also in the evenings when they are in bed. It is very hard though as I still have the housework, food shopping, cooking and school runs to do, so time is very precious to me and there never seems be enough time in a day!

Having your own business can take over your life very easily and the hardest thing for me is trying to keep an even balance and making sure I give my family quality time too.
