Stumped by school choices? Bewildered by the British school system? A series of upcoming talks at 3 House Club in NW8 might be up your alley.
On Thursday the 5th of May, from 7 to 9pm, you can get the low-down on UK schools at ‘Understanding the British School System’. The evening is aimed at ‘pregnant mums and mums with young babies’ who want to get a grip on their options, and includes an overview of state and private, co-ed and single-sex, 7+ and 11+/13+ exams, promising ‘a comprehensive run-through of the British school system as a whole’ along with insights into local schools.
A second talk, on Saturday the 7th of May from 12:30 to 2pm, will focus on the 7+ entrance assessment. This session includes subject areas covered on entry exams, the interview for both children and parents, and how to prepare. A Q&A follows the presentation, so attendees are encouraged to bring their burning questions.
The 4+ assessment is the topic for the third event, on Thursday the 12th of May from 7 to 9pm. The workshop, for parents of two- to three-year-olds, covers how to prepare your child, such as areas to work on and material to use. (Spaces are limited to 10, and profits will be donated to SHINE, an education charity that provides extra English and maths support to disadvantaged young people.)
The first two talks cost £80 each, the third will set you back £120, and all will be held at the 3 House Club off St John’s Wood High Street in NW8. For more information, visit their events page.
