Learn: Run a Cooking Club

West London Mum

Would you like to run a cooking club?

Let’s Get Cooking, in partnership with West London Waste Authority, are offering training, support and funding for people that would like to set up and run cooking clubs with new mums.

Let’s Get Cooking training is great fun, and will help you learn new skills, and improve your confidence and knowledge when cooking with groups as well as how to teach healthy cooking habits to new parents.  They will show you everything you need to know to set up fun and successful cooking club sessions in the easiest way possible – you don’t even need a kitchen!

Expert staff will then be on hand to support and help you run your club, and small grants will be provided to help buy ingredients and cooking equipment.

ABOUT LET’S GET COOKING
The project has set up over 5,000 cookery clubs nationwide and is working with many organisations to run training for people to run cookery sessions on healthy eating, which always starts in the home.  They have reached over 2 million people in the last 5 years and are currently being funded by the West London Waste Authority to set up 30 clubs in the West London area focusing on new parents/carers as well as young people leaving home for the first time.

They  have £300 of funding to give each cookery club to help them with the purchase of ingredients and equipment and  run a two day training course to build confidence in cookery demonstrator skills and managing the running of a club.  They will also be demonstrating the use of portable cooking equipment so that a club can be run anywhere that has a sink, but not necessarily a kitchen.

The training will take place on Thursday 6th and Friday 7th December 2012 in Ealing (5 minutes from Ealing Broadway tube station).  It is two full days and the funding will be released after the training has been attended.  Each cookery club would need to run a minimum of 9 cookery sessions within 12 months and 2 community events as well as fill out some basic online reports with a few questions like, what did you cook and how many people attended.

This could be a great opportunity for you to get funding, resources and training to maintain or restart your cooking club.

Places will be allocated on a first come first served basis.
