Kids and Teens Summer Cooking Courses

If your son or daughter is hooked on the Great British Bake Off or loves to help you cook, why not send them for a fun and educational session in the kitchens at Leiths School of Food and Wine? Set up by Prue Leith and Caroline Waldegrave in 1975, Leiths is famous for its Diploma course, which produces some of the country’s top chefs; yet they also have a great range of options for children and teenagers.

KIDS KITCHEN

Date: 2–5 August
Ages: 7 to 11 years old
Cost: £80 a day. Choose to book a single day or all four days in a row.
Venue: Leiths School of Food and Wine, 16-22 Wendell Road, London W12 9RT. Children are also taken to Kite Studios around the corner.

Youngsters will spend half the day cooking in the beautiful modern kitchens at Leiths, learning to bake delicious treats such as Teriyaki chicken skewers with vegetable noodles and Fresh raspberry tiramisu. From ‘Asian Banquet’ to ‘Summery Brunch’, each day will have a different exciting theme. They’ll also get creative at Kite Studios, using techniques such as sculpture, print making, etching and painting to create their own unique artwork.

Boot Camp

Dates: 25-29 July or 1-5 August
Ages: One course for 16-18 year olds, another for 18-25 year olds.
Cost: Usually £705 per week, £564 with discount.
Venue: Leiths School of Food and Wine, 16-22 Wendell Road, London W12 9RT.

This fun packed, one week introduction to cooking is perfect for those with a passion for food and entertaining and ideal for those heading to sixth form, a ski season, or into the working world. Filled with practical tips and techniques for the budding chef and ending with a fun and creative cook off as students put their new found skills to the test.

Let’s Cook!

Dates: 21 July (Italian for Teenagers) 22 July (Baking for Teenagers) 26-29 July (Cookery Toolbox)
Ages: 12-17 years old
Cost: £100 for a single day, £615 for the Toolbox.
Venue: Leiths School of Food and Wine, 16-22 Wendell Road, London W12 9RT.

Young students will gain a range of key cooking skills on this four day, fast-paced, fun-packed hands-on cooking for budding chefs. Packed with lots of top cooking tips, teenagers will learn to cook an array of tasty recipes for breakfast, brunch, lunch and dinner. Young chefs will leave inspired to keep on cooking with confidence.
