As many women near the end of maternity leave, they are faced with the decision to go back to work, stay at home or give it a go and set something up on their own. No time is better than now to start your own business. The internet has made it easier than ever and social marketing has brought people closer together faster. In addition to technology, networking and mentoring have never been more accessible. One organization helping women in business succeed every step of the way is Motivating Mum. Motivating Mum is a organization providing mums in business with mentoring, networking events and brainstorming. Sessions are held in Chiswick, Blackheath and Crystal Palace, Clapham, Balham and Battersea, Kingston and Wimbledon and Wandsworth and are run by local women in each area, many of whom are business owners themselves.
West London’s local chapter is run by Caroline Laycock and Katie Wallace pictured above. Both are mums with two children each and run their own businesses – Caroline runs Talking Tots in west London and Katie is a freelance consultant helping businesses solve brand and marketing challenges. Caroline and Katie had attended Motivating Mum luncheons and realized it’s ability to help local budding entrepreneurs. Sessions range from brainstorming, unleashing the power of twitter, maximizing the capabilities of your Iphone and how to build a business successfully. Past guests have included: Cath Kidston, Miamoo founder Saiara Khan and many more…
Motivating Mum W4 is holding a session this Friday featuring three local entrepreneurs who will share their stories and tips based on their experiences of building successful businesses. Liz Pilgrim from Babye boutique, Carole Ann Rice from The Real Coaching Company and Georgina Burns from Chiswick Theatre Arts dance school, will share their collective experiences on how they started out, what were their breakthroughs and what they would do differently if they could do it again. This is a great opportunity to talk to local entrepreneurs and ask them about attracting customers, hiring staff, managing the numbers and finding the balance.
