Flash Sales – stylekiddie.com

Flash sales, just like flash mobs are here to stay!  For those that are “in the know” these sales can offer up huge discounts on otherwise cost prohibitive items.  If you’re looking for a unique item…get friendly with some flash-sale sites…you never know what might pop up!

One flash site we love is Stylekiddie.  It was  started by Notthing Hill based, friends (and mums) with entrepreneurial spirits who realized there was a hole in the market in the UK for these types of children’s sale sites. “We were always searching for stylish, high-quality clothing for our kids at discount prices— sample sales, boot sales you name it we had been there. We thought wouldn’t it be great if we could have amazing new children’s products at a discount price in the comfort of our own homes.”

With their combined backgrounds in fashion and marketing; they took a huge leap of faith and started StyleKiddie in October of 2010. “We realized that no matter how bad the economy may be, parents still want quality items for their children so it was a actually a perfect time to offer designer items at a 40% or more discount, allowing parents to buy cool designer gear for their children but without the designer price tag.”

Currently, Stylekiddie runs one sale per week, but as the business grows will be expanding.  With our membership growing every day, we are constantly looking for new designers and companies, with a strict policy of only showcasing brands we love and use ourselves for our own children. Style Kiddie also has a great invite a friend policy which allows you to invite as many friends to the site as you like and to receive a £10 credit with every invited friend’s first purchase.

WLM caught up with founders Stephania and Mariela:

What inspired you to start Style Kiddie?
Initially it was a concept that one of us had coming back from America. Flash Sales are such a popular method over there, not only in promoting new brands but also offering customers great prices for quality goods. As parents we are always looking for cool items for our little ones but as they grow so quickly we thought it would be great to be able to offer the best of boutique items without the designer price tag.

What is your favourite place in West London?
Favourite places in West London are: Negozio Classico (Portobello Road), Ottolenghi (Ledbury Road), The Electric Cinema and Restaurant

What is your favorite child friendly place in West London?
Honey Jam, Their Nibs, Westfield Mall, Bliss Fields (Brook Green) and Virgin Active Creche.

How do you spend your downtime?
Steph: My downtime is spent with family and going to the gym. Weekends are really my time to chill and spend time with my daughter and partner going to the park or lazing around watching an old country western film on the couch.

Mariela: As I have two very active boys we love to go to Diana Memorial Park, for kids it is a complete dream come true, we also love taking the bus over to east London, love the markets, restaurants and not many people know this but there is a cool little zoo just off Brick Lane, amazing!

How do you juggle running your own business and being a mum?
From the minute children come into your life, everything becomes one big juggle that you just have to plan and organise as each day comes. You get better at it with time, by thinking ahead and planning a few days in advance in regards to who will pick the kids from school, the housework that needs to be done and so on.  As long as family is first your business will naturally fall in place, especially if you have a great support team behind you!

Style Kiddie is currently holding a flash sale for Green Baby until Thursday at midnight.  Upcoming sale is Kid’s Vintage Corner.
