Family Eats: Rice Restaurant, Chiswick

Contributed by Mox-Mojca Sanjenbam:

The first time we visited Rice in Chiswick, my little boy was only three months old. We walked in with a buggy, tempted to try some famous Persian grill.  We were greeted by a smiling lady—the owner as we later found out, she had just became a granny a few days before and was swooning over our son.  Very importantly, we were able to park our buggy next to the table without obstructing anyone.

The food was amazing and reasonably priced, and we’ve been returning ever since…

My “baby” is now a year old and we visit Rice once a month. I started a diet to get rid of my “baby weight” and I normally order grilled chicken with salad, my husband has mince lamb kebabs with rice or inside Persian bread with salad. They make their own bread in the oven inside the restaurant. The food is tasty, healthy and will set you back only up to £15 per person including a starter, soft drink and a main. Their full menu and price list are on their website.

The owner greets us warmly every time we come and she never fails to check on my little boy, giving him some special attention. In fact, she treats all her young costumers the same way.  I saw a five year old  come in for lunch with her mum and she greeted her like she was the most important costumer in the restaurant and complimented her lovely dress. She really knows how to deal with kids, and parents like me are grateful to be able to go to a restaurant where kids are not only tolerated, but warmly welcomed.

Rice serves only the finest dishes made from authentic ingredients.
