Ethical Mums Supperclub, Ealing

Ethical Mums Supperclub, Ealing

Contributed by Emily Fawell:

An exciting new initiative has launched recently in West London which aims to bring together pregnant women and new mums, whilst introducing them to new ideas about pregnancy and bringing up babies.

Ethical Mums was the brainchild of Louise Coultas-Pitman, owner of the Cracked Pot florist and Ethical Babe, an online mother and baby store, and Emily Fawell of 4WellPeople a local Nutritional Therapist.

The Ethical Mums Supperclub is held in the fabulous Joie de Vivre on St Mary’s Road, Ealing once a month. The evening is a chance for pregnant women to meet other local mums-to-be, whilst eating delicious Mediterranean tapas, and finding out about products and services which might be of interest or use during pregnancy. Experts in health, wellbeing and pregnancy give talks on various pregnancy related topics and are on hand to answer any burning questions.

The first Supperclub was a great success. Guests were introduced to a range of local practitioners including a pregnancy massage therapist, acupuncturist and breast feeding counsellor, an NCT representative, owner of Babye boutique and a local photographer, Melanie Moss, who specialises in pregnancy, babies and children were also on hand to talk to guests. Jo Simons of Ealing Reflexology treated the women to a reflexology taster session, and Emily Fawell gave a talk on nutrition in pregnancy. It was a relaxing and informative evening, with lots of great connections being made.

In addition to this, every Thursday afternoon Ethical Mums hosts a New Mums Meet Up, at Pauline’s Café, 137 Little Ealing Lane, W5 from 1 to 3pm. New mums are invited to come along and meet other new mums, and each week guest speakers will be there to chat about a topic of interest. So far Johanna Grundy of Let’s Yoga has demonstrated yoga moves that you can do with tiny babies; Emily Fawell of 4Well People has spoken on various nutrition related topics including sustaining your energy with a new baby and losing weight without dieting; Esther Newall, local psychotherapist has talked about bonding with your baby; and the West London Waste Authority have given a talk on Nappies and the Environment. In the coming months talks will be given on the subjects of Breastfeeding, how to encourage your baby to sleep well as well as post natal exercise and the benefits of baby massage.
