Encourage your kids’ love of reading at the Barnes Children’s Literature Festival this May. On Saturday and Sunday the 14th and 15th, London’s largest kids-only book festival rolls into town, bringing such kid-lit luminaries as Lauren Child, Michael Morpurgo, Axel Sheffler, Jacqueline Wilson and Judith Kerr to the southwest side of the city for a range of book-based fun.
Only in its second year, the festival has doubled in size from last year and features more than 50 events aimed at kids from two to teens. In addition to UK authors, this year Australian Morris Gleitzman and German fantasy writer Cornelia Funke will be travelling to the UK exclusively for the festival. Plus Roald Dahl and the Imagination Seekers will bring an interactive theatrical experience exploring the beloved author’s stories.
The festival takes place at various venues around Barnes Pond, so have a gander at the ducks and a wander round the village while you’re there.
A percentage of all books sold, together with the surplus from ticket sales, will be donated to local primary school libraries. For more the full schedule of events, click here
