Celebrate 10 Years of The Barnes Children’s Literature Festival This Weekend

Happy 10th birthday to the Barnes Children’s Literature Festival! The UK’s largest children’s books event returns on Saturday 22 and Sunday 23 June with more than 100 of the family friendliest readings, workshops and performances around beautiful Barnes Pond.  With iconic illustrator, author and our first Children’s Laureate, Sir Quentin Blake as festival illustrator this festival is celebrating in style!

Literary legend Michael Rosen, beloved bestselling author Jacqueline Wilson, the superstar creator of the Tom Gates series, Liz Pichon, and Gruffalo illustrator Axel Scheffler are just a few of the big names on their way to Barnes.

They’ll be joined by the American author of the smash hit InvestiGators series, John Patrick Green, renowned cartoonist Chris Riddell, draw along genius Rob Biddulph, the Waterstones Children’s Book Prize winner Kiran Millwood Hargrave and Sophie Dahl, granddaughter of Roald, among many, many, more.

There’s plenty of entertainment for ‘fact’ fans too including the ‘Horrible’ historian, Greg Jenner, dinosaur expert Professor Ben Garrod, science sleuth Dr Adam Rutherford, star of BBC Radio 4’s Rutherford & Fry, and multi award winning author Dr Roopa Farooki.

This year’s programme is packed with family friendly theatre performances including Paddington Bear’s First Concert, The Velveteen Rabbit, The Magic Rainbow Fish and a very special appearance by everyone’s favourite family cat, Mog.
