Ed lives in Shepherd’s Bush with his wife Hannah and their two children.
Where are you right now?
At home, enjoying a nice glass of red wine having failed, at length, to fix some fairy lights for our Christmas tree. The two may be connected.
What are you reading at the moment?
Thinking, Fast and Slow by Daniel Kahneman. Utterly fascinating. But it’s going slowly.
What do you do for down time?
Like lots of new parents I suppose, I have become something of a DVD box-set fanatic. I tend to get a bit anxious when I know I’m nearing the end of whatever it is I’m currently watching – ‘Where’s the next box-set fix going to come from! Must have new box set!’ At the moment it’s Boardwalk Empire. I can’t wait for the new series of Mad Men.
Where is your favourite place to eat in West London?
I’m a big fan of the Princess Victoria on Uxbridge Road.
If you had to make a quick escape where would you go?
New York where Hannah, my wife, and I were engaged, or, if it was summer, the Languedoc in the South of France. It’s the best part of France in my opinion – great food, wine, scenery, beaches, cities and all very relaxed.
What is on your bedside table?
A book I’ve never read, and don’t quite know how it got there – You Shall Know Our Velocity by Dave Eggers. I think it’s Hannah’s (I don’t really use my bedside table).
What three things would you take with you to a desert island?
A football, a football pump, and another football for when I lose the first one.
Who would you most like to meet for a drink?
Christopher Guest. He’s known for being the genius behind This is Spinal Tap and Best in Show amongst other films. He also plays Count Rugan in The Princess Bride. He’s less well known for being a British Peer and Jamie Lee Curtis’ husband.
What is your greatest extravagance?
Cohiba cigars.
What is your favourite thing to do as a family?
Some friends run a restaurant on the river in Chiswick, and we love having a family brunch there before walking along the river to Duke’s Meadow.
