Alice Morgan of The Baby Yoga Company grew up in rural Ibiza until she moved to the UK to attend school, which led her to do a degree Anthropology at University. She later worked in TV and ended up at the BBC. When her daughters came along she discovered Baby Yoga and all the benefits it held for both parents and babies. It was so inspiring and such a support, that she put her background in television and her new found passion together and set up a small production company in order to make two films—Baby Yoga and Toddler Yoga for people to practice with their children at home.
Tell me a little about your business…
The little business has it’s own momentum. It’s allowed me to work flexibly, promoting something which has the potential to hugely improve the quality of life for parents and children alike. I now teach, as well as keep the sales ticking over.
What benefits do children get from taking your class?
Just seeing the increased confidence in new parents and the smiles on the babies faces. Watching parents gently relax and begin to truly enjoy their children and have fun with them in structured play. The children are able to gain increased confidence in their own bodies and in the relationship with their parents. It teaches communication skills, enhances mental and physical development and can improve sleeping and eating patterns. It can also soothe colic.
What age range do you teach?
Baby Yoga is from new-born until the children are really on the move. Then Toddler Yoga is for those who can crawl and beyond. I also teach kids yoga for the older child.
