If you’re a film buff and keen for your kids to be too, here’s a way to encourage an early love of cinema: take them to the BFI London Film Festival 2017, which runs today through the 15th of October. The festival includes a range of family-friendly options, from animated to live-action to documentary. And with a family ticket, the cost for kids is a bargain at £1.
Entries have come from the world over—France, Scandinavia, Japan, South Korea, Swaziland and more. Liyana tells a story created by orphans in Swaziland, while Ivan Tsarevitch and the Changing Princess recounts four fairy tales with monsters, magicians, pirates and princesses. Big Fish and Begonia features a girl who turns into a dolphin, a two-headed snake and a rat matron and her gang of vermin, while the quirky Lu Over the Wall stars a musical mermaid.
Also on offer is a collection of animated shorts, with stories such as “The Kid and the Hedgehog” and “Piglet’s Journey”, plus the added benefit of a squirming-kid-friendly running time of 67 minutes.
