Minor Edition is an online store which launched last year selling quality dresses for little girls in limited editions. The dress collection includes a mix of cotton summer dresses and unique silk dresses that are perfect for special occasions.  Mum and lead designer Ipshita uses unusual fabrics in traditional cuts to give a contemporary feel to the line.  With a nod to both ethnic as well as retro designs, Minor Edition is a great place to find an original dress for your little one.  All  fabrics are ethically sourced from India and incorporate beautiful detailing such as crochet.  Perfect for summer garden parties!

What inspired you to start Minor Edition?
Minor Edition was born out of a love of Indian textiles, colour and of course having my own daughter.

What challenges have you encountered with starting a business?

  • Making optimal use of the limited resources initially and maintaining cash flow.
  • Overcoming the fear that the designs will be rejected.
  • Doing PR without any actual budget for it.

How do you juggle being a mum and running your own business?
I work full time for 3 days in a week when there is childcare available. I do manage working on the other days by working late at nights or early mornings. Hence I have to give up on sleep a lot. It is all fun because I enjoy running the business.

Where can we find your products?
The dresses can be found online at minoredition.co.uk

Minor Edition will be at the Chiswick Bazaar May 14th and 15th.  Dresses will be offered at a discounted price.
